This was the coolest...

Post by edbson on Sun Sep 25, 2011 10:37 pm

the coolest thing i have ever seen.

We were fishing IN Cameron, La. and a pod of Dolphins swam by, and there was a PINK one. I have seen alot of Bottlenosed dolphins,I see white(albino) ones and regular ones, see them everyday right out my front door, but never a pink one. They were playing by the boat and tossing flounder and other fish into the air....was cool and funny.

How awesome!! I love dolphins! I know you're not supposed to approach them in the ocean, but they seem so harmless and adorable!Years ago we had a family trip to Orlando and we went to a dolphin show.At the end the dolphins jumped up at each side of the pool and I actually got to pet one! I lifted my niece up and she pet it also.I don't think she'll ever forget that

Aw, it looks so pretty! I know that oddly colored animals can be outsiders sometimes, but it looks like the pink and albino dolphins are accepted just fine in their groups. That's my happy thought for the day. Very Happy

Yep, they are. These are not afraid of people, or boats. They were not coming too close, but within 10-15 feet.....they would spray us when they breathed.

Yeah, but this one is a female, I wonder if there is amale around still?

We see Albino's all the time, a pod of about 30 lives around here....they aren't that rare.

How do tell a male from a female dolphin? It says it is believed to be a male.
There are quite a few stories when you do a search, all in the area of Lake Calcasieu. They all say there is just one, but maybe you spotted another one!

This one is female, you can tell by curve of the Dorsal fin, it isn't in Lake Calcasieu either, it is in The Cameron ship channel, a long way from the lake.
