Whining (continued)

Post by Lori on Wed Apr 20, 2011 11:12 am

What a crappy time it's been since we got back from TX. My oven is not working (just spent $239 to have it fixed a month ago), we're in the process of being dumped on again (8+ inches), and I just had to send a check for $540 to Grandma's nursing home ... for 27 oxygen tank refills. Oh, and we're still working on painting, and DH took the lock assembly off of our laundry room door. Now we're locked in, so we need to use the front door only. LOVE tracking snow and stuff through the house! LOL We may need Pella to come out to fix the lock.

A friend posted on Facebook that her son has a snow day today. They moved to Alaska a couple of years ago. I told her that we have a snow day here in northern MI too. She said they're back in MI to finish out the school year. Said it's 50 and sunny in Alaska today. LOL

I could join in some whining for sure! Dh had a bunch of friends come in last Wed to Sun. We were really tired from the company and were sitting down to watch Amazing Race and eat dinner, when the phone started ringing. Our kids all seem to have issues at the same time & had to talk to us right then. The first one has a car issue and has my car until it gets resolved. She had no way back to college when her car broke while home for the holidays. So I gave her my car and she still has it. I have been without a car since then & she keeps calling to find out when we are getting another car for her. She has her part of the money and our part is our graduation present to her. We don't have our part yet & dh wants to just buy her a new car with us amking the payments. I said no way can we do that and he is mad. This same daughter recently told us she has a girlfriend now. She is not ready to say she is gay, but is telling us she is dating a girl. Dh and I are fine with this (we always thought this about her so no surprise to us) but two of the other kids have a big problem with that though due to religious views, and aren't sure about going to her graduation now because it is not comfortable for them to see their sister with a girlfriend. One called to say he is not coming for sure, but the other decided on Sun to book plane tickets. She was calling about that and needs to be picked up 1.5 hours away from the graduation. She is not happy that I told her the gas was going to be more for us to come to that airport rather than her to fly to the closer more expensive one. Tried to have dinner after the calls ended, but Dh was too angry to eat. Then one of the dogs got real sick all over the place. I think she was having a reaction to her flea medication. Dealing with that, I had an asthma attack from the chaos and terrible smell! I even lost my glasses for a while and never did eat. That was just Sun, and Mon was about as bad with the heat soaring to about 90 and the ac is not working. Tues I woke up and my history was erased from the computer. I spent most of the day trying to figure out what someone in my house had done & didn't want discovered. In the end I found it was about my downloading a new version of Firefox, but the others on this computer are still using the old version. I wasted most of a day convinced someone had viewed porn or something. I could go on, but enough whining, ready for wine I think I don't have to worry about drinking and driving since I will not have a car any time soon. Wait that was more whining wasn't it? Sorry Smile

Wow, that is a lot to deal with, and I have to say that I was really distressed because it all started happening while you were watching The Amazing Race. I love that show, it's my favorite!

I have a niece who has been with a girl for the past couple of years. Prior to that she had a long-term relationship with a guy, but he cheated on her. Anyhow, the girl looks very butch, and will occasionally draw a mustache on herself. (?) It can be awkward! To each his or her own - I try to keep an open mind. What I find really odd though, is that this niece's mother (my sister was her step-mother) is now with a woman, too. After 3 husbands and 8 children she's now decided that she's a lesbian. Like I said, to each his own, but that particular situation strikes me as being really odd.

Since I posted my whine I talked to my dad. He asked if my grandma got her tax refunds yet. Nope. He said that was weird, because he did. I got all of grandma's paperwork to him, and he took it to the accountant on the same day that he took his in. Then he mentions that the accountant called on Monday asking about the form my dad was to have grandma sign (permission to e-file on her behalf). He never went to the nursing home to have her sign it. He lives 10 minutes from the nursing home and had a month to get that done. He actually never did go. He gave the form to my sister to take to grandma last Friday. Then he didn't put it in the mailbox until Monday. Tax Day! I am livid! Grandma is probably going to have to pay penalties now!

That's alot of money for oxygen Lori! You might want to look into renting an oxygen compression machine,I don't know what it's really called. It compresses air or takes the oxygen from the air,so you don't have tanks or refills ,it uses electricity. My mom used it when she was sick,God rest her soul

Lori I am convinced it is something in the stars. I am sorry to hear your issues continue too. After I posted my whine, I found ants had invaded my kitchen in huge numbers. I have several cabinets emptied into bags and the bags are all over the living room now. I have an ongoing ant issue, but they all went & brought back thousands of friends & it is making me pull my hair out!

She has one of those in her room, but when she's in her wheelchair, they need a small tank attached to it. Sad

I hope things look up for all of you!

We were going to buy a house, went insane trying to get everything in place in a very short period of time and then the seller backed out at the last minute : ( I've been rather sad and mad about the whole deal. But it's spring soccer season and with only a few people doing all the work it's kept me pretty busy, so very little time to pout. I started working part time in the Gun shop for my parents when I thought we would be sustaining two mortgages for a while but I kind of like it and it's nice to have some extra cash so I'm still doing it.

I have twin aunts, 9 kids between them and about 10 years ago one decided she was a lesbian, and 3 years later her twin decided the same. I couldn't care less, kinda always wondered but it's quite the topic in the rest of the ultra conservative family members. Makes for interesting Holiday discussions at the very least : )

LOL Tara, do the aunts attend family functions or do you rarely see them? It's interesting that they both made the switch.

They come! Well one anyway, the other is in Arizona so she doesn't come around very much. I think they thrive on the drama of it all, and they give it as good as they get it. The rest of us that aren't offended by how someone else chooses to live their lives just sit back and enjoy the show, lol.

I'm feeling totally jealous of all you with gay or lesbian relatives. I know that sounds weird... I've only known two gays... one a gal I worked with back in MI who was very open and eventutally moved to NH and got married to her wife. The other is the brother of my daughter-in-law. He and his partner are always at family functions although I believe his Boston family is a little bit embarrassed by his lifestyle. (I absolutely adore both of them... even more than the blood kin LOL) I've always entertained thoughts of my oldest grandson being gay... he showed signs at an early age.

But since our son has shut DH and I out of their lives, I don't know. I do know Jonathan has a FB page, and I've seen one picture of his which also includes a girl... so I really have no idea.

Anyway, I just think it would be great to have someone who is different and not afraid to show their true colors... I, like several of you, are more advance that the majority of the US poplulation in thinking that if some one's sexual orientation is different than our own, it doesn't make them a bad a doomed-to-hell person... we are who/what we are!
