Thanks Everyone!

Post by Rebecca1340 on Thu Sep 23, 2010 6:44 pm

Just a quick thanks to everyone who took the time to message me when they heard about how sick Sam has been this week. We're finally home from the hospital and looking forward to sleeping in our own beds. Sam's higher than a kite with his asthma meds and steroids, but he did have a great time shopping online for his new medic alert bracelet Very Happy I'll be popping in again soon!

Glad he's home... as Dorothy said, "there's no place like home" and he'll hopefully come back totally quicker in his own loving environment. Sorry it's been such a stressful almost a week for you, Sam and the rest of the family.

Kids! I'm glad he got excited about the bracelet. Some kids can find the fun in the most surprising places. Very Happy

Athena, your Greek saying reminds me that the captain of our cruise ship was a very handsome, eligible Greek male. As were many of the officers. You need a cruise, woman!

Now worries! We were put in iscolation because the cause of his hospitalization was listed as "respiratory" by the genius head nurse in peds. That meant that my only source of popping online when Sam was sleeping was through my cell phone. I couldn't get on this site from my cell phone, but I can get on Facebook which is how some people from here found out.
I don't know if he's as strong as metal yet, but his meds have him higher than a kite right now!

LMAO! He is cute!but he looks younger than me.I don't think I would ever date a seaman anyway, you know the sterotype,a woman at every port. I actually have a long distance SEMI-relationship a long time now,my 2nd long distance relationship ever.I know they don't usually work, but I really like him so I had to give it a try.Well,we'll see what happens.

Rebecca, I hope he (and you!) was able to get some sleep last night. I know how those asthma meds get them going. Plus, if you need to get up throughout the night for breathing treatments...ay-yi-yi, I do NOT miss those days!

Also, just wondering what his Medic Alert bracelet will say.

Re: Thanks Everyone!

Post by Rebecca1340 on Fri Sep 24, 2010 12:06 pm

I stayed up last night to give him a treatment before I went to bed. I also checked on him every time I was up with my own nightmares last night, but he seemed to be fine so I didn't treat him any more until this morning. While we were at the hospital the pediatrician didn't like the sounds of my asthma (I developed that after the blood clots I had last year) so she changed my meds while we were in the hospital. I don't know if my own med change caused the nightmares or if it was stress or a little of both.

We're getting the medic alert bracelet for free through the No Child Without program. If anyone has a kid between 4 and 14 who needs one they should check out the website and see if your school is listed as a participant. I talked to them today because Mike and I decided it would be a good idea to buy a second bracelet in case something happens to the first one. They said that the bracelet will just state that he has asthma will have their phone number to call for more details about his meds. I am able to update his meds as they change them through the Medic Alert website.

I think I'm completely losing my mind though -- last night I was seriously considering ordering a small oximeter so I could check his oxygen sats at home when he has any asthma symptoms...
