Tea drinkers....I was thinking, I should get some tea to throw in the bag with the tea for one set...I don't know much about tea..I've only tried Chai Tea before which is nice..and i drink Lemon Zest Tea with honey when I have a sore/scratchy throat... SIL drinks tea..I was wondering what I might get for tea to throw in her bag..something nice..

This is the set I bought her...it looks so much prettier in person..the yellow is more like the color of the saucer..not the color of the teapot cover..it's sooo nice..If you look at the alternate pics on Amazon, you can see the box it comes in too..very nicely packaged..

If your SIL drinks tea daily, then a black pekoe is always good, or perhaps she likes green or white tea, also both good if she leans that way. Any kind of herbal is a safe bet, and Celeste Seasonings always has some sort of Apple/cincinamon... which is nice around the holidays for a special tea. It's really hard to recommend a tea to someone when you don't know what their tastes are... but I'm sure she'll appreciate just about anything.

Thats funny, I got MIL the one with the Dancing Fairies. Rooibos tea is usually a safe bet, green tea is not, it's an acquired tatse. , but white tea is ok too...Celestial Seasonings are pretty safe, they have a variety pack also, so there is a good hoice. Is she the SIL with the demon spawn? I would get her a Case of Celestial seasonings sleepy time tea.....Smile

lol dee...I get a thrill out of shopping for gifts for other people. I wish I had an unlimited income to shop for gifts. I love finding just the right thing..especially for a good price..my SIL Rani openly admits that she loves to get my gifts because they're always something she likes.

I drink tea, but only occasionally, not enough to say I'm a tea drinker..a flavored holiday type tea sounds nice...

and, yes Erin..it is the SIL with the demon spawn..lol Sleepytime tea sounds good too..in fact I think that's one of the kind she drinks..so it would be a safe bet as well

Kelly, when I was young like you, I too enjoyed the search for the perfect gift, and usally got it spot on... but now days, I'm not embarrased to say, it's gift cards all around, and the recipients love those too (who doesn't like to shop for themselves on someone else's money (besides everyone lives out of state). For local gifts, it's usually baked or homemade type of things.

a PS on teas... last Feb, I had a coupon for a free box of tea from Pilot Gas Stations/Quick Stops. Don't know if you have them up there... but

I got R evolution Tea, Honeybush Caramel... it's it the coolest bags... triangle mesh bags, and it's of so yummy. Maybe you could google it... honestly is delish and very special due to the strangee cloth mesh bags.

Erin is right about green tea (its an acquired taste, I don't have, hubby does) Can't go wrong with Celeste Teas, especially variety pack (usually about 16 bags, 4 of each kind)

but here's a link to R evolution: http://www.revolutiontea.com/tea-samplers/

I like Revolution teas, good quality...and the bags are cute.
i also like loose teas, and a bag of loose tea and a tea ball makes a great gift on it's own.

I guess I am going to make the UPS and Fedex guys cookies. They have both been here alot in the last few weeks, and will be here more and more.....actually, according to my tracking info, they will each be here 4 times this week...Smile
The garbage man still ain't gettin cookies, all he does is drive in a truck that picks up the can and dumps it..he never gets out, and I don't ever see him.

Re: Today...

Post by KellyM on Fri Oct 22, 2010 6:47 am

So yesterday (Thurs) was mine and my husbands anniversary. We didn't really have time to spend together because it was a weekday..however we will be having Chinese tonight. He suprised me with a gift yesterday..We weren't supposed to do gifts. But I'm not taking my gift back..lol He bought me a Kindle which I opened last night. I didn't really have much time to play with it though because I have "demon seed" to watch all day today from 7:45am until 4pm or thereabouts. But I did register it and linked it to my amazon account and found 8 free books that I want to read and downloaded 5 that I paid for (3 of which were .99) and I downloaded 3 games for .99 each. Two Word Jumble Puzzles and one other logic puzzle thing...I can't wait to play around on it this weekend...

Well..so far so good..he's only been here about half an hour but has been behaving very well. He wasn't the least bit bad on Mon either. He may just be getting the hang of realizing that he can't behave badly when he's here Smile

That's good to hear, Kelly. Kids are very adaptable and learn to live up to your expectations. I wonder if his parents will begin to see an improvement in his behavior.

Nice Kelly. You'll have to let us know what you think of it. I have been tempted to get myself one for Christmas but I just don't know if I will like it. I have little space but I like holding the real thing when I read. I really don't know much about them.... do they take batteries or do you need to plug it in and charge it, if so how long does it last?

Tara..I've only had it since last night and I've been going crazy downloading free books today...I'm now at almost 40 books and 3 games.. a lot of the classics are free...I read a lot of romance...there's quite a few free and low cost books on there...

It was super easy to set up. It comes with a combo charger for wall outlet or USB. So far the battery seems to last a long time. The battery time probably gets eaten up more if you are doing online stuff with it. You can also use it as an MP3 player. It has a standby mode if you let it sit for a few minutes without hitting a button. You can go online with it..though I haven't played with that feature yet other than having the wireless feature on to download books. You can bookmark your page, so the next time you turn the Kindle on and go to that book, it automatically goes to where you left off. There are all kinds of cool features to it...

I had been eyeballing them for a while too Tara..and after Christmas was going to start saving my Amazon $$ from surveys up to get one..but hubby ended up getting me one. I have to say after getting this and using it...it is Sooooo worth the $139.00 If you figure the average price per book $7-8. In less than 20 books you've paid for your purchase...I have probably 30 FREE books on there right now along with others that were under $4....it pays for itself....

BTW tara...I have a case for my Kindle... I was worried about it not feeling right because it's not a regular book, but when it's in the case, it's just like holding a book... this is my case

http://www.amazon.com/CrazyOnDigital-Generation-Protector-wristband-included/dp/B00428C1I0/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1287794982&sr=8-8

They have fancier more expensive ones, but this case/cover is great!

Lori..I'm not sure if his behavior has improved with them lately, but he has been very well behaved here and really great today. I'm thinking he just knows what to expect here, I give one warning and then follow through and he's experienced that firsthand.. I've been telling SIL how I am with him here and how well he behaves for me. However kids will push their own parents further. I've also been complimenting her on things that she's trying. There are rare moments when Alex randomly does something nice..and she's been making sure to praise him every time..and sometimes, but not all the time reward him with something little like being able to make and decorate brownies or a little treat or something.that seems to work well and I've commented that I think that's great she's doing that. It's slow going but they are really trying this time I think.
