The parties

Post by thebigscott on Sat May 29, 2010 11:31 pm

Today was Caly's birthday party AND our Schwan's houseparty. I am worn out! But both the parties were a complete success. Caly had 9 kids at the party, not counting her sister and brothers. They did each other up in shaving cream, made cornstarch and water mixes (which are fun because they run like a liquid but harden into a solid if you press on them) and they designed their own pillowcases using permanent markers and rubbing alcohol (which makes the colors bleed). Plus they ate cake and ran through the sprinkler and played in the sandbox. Yes, the sandbox. You never outgrow that apparently. They loved the croc cake and all the messy activities.

Then later in the evening some of our grown up friends stopped by and we cooked out and served the free food I got from Schwan's. It was SO good. I mean, super easy and really nice, restaurant quality food that didn't taste like it had been frozen. Everyone found at least one or two dishes that they really liked and couldn't believe I got from Schwan's. We didn't have quite as many guests as I'd hoped, but it was still a good turn out and a great party.

I got the kids to clean up the yard and even though I had to keep after them to get it done they did get it clean before dark. So all that's left is to clean up the kitchen. There's not much cleaning from the Schwan's food but there are cups and serving plates and bowls and such like that. Plus I'll have to wash all the towels they used today and all the clothes that my kids got wet. But it's doable in a morning so that means tomorrow I'll have a clean house and yard and nothing on the schedule that HAS to be done.

That being said, Caly wants us to bake a cake for her favorite teacher and Zoe wants to go to the pool now that it's open for the summer. A woman's work really is never done.

LOL! I should have put in comments on the pictures, but I was having trouble getting them to load so I decided to just upload the photos and then have Caly put in the names and descriptions later.
