anti virus help

Post by bizzeedee on Fri May 14, 2010 11:41 pm

I've used Avast for a few years, and have been pleased, but recently had to update it and my computer has been a chore since.

Today, I downloaded Microsoft Security Essenials (free) after reading good reviews about the software.

But I'm really not seeing a difference... maybe a little faster (supposedly MSE uses very little CPU)..

What are you using and are you happy? (I'm talking freeware... not Norton or Symantec)

The first thing I did when I fired up my new one last night was delete and remove all traces of Norton. I hate Norton. I use AVG, I've always been happy with it.

I can help here... First and foremost, download and RUN malwarebytes (the free version is VERY good).. I also use AVG as my virus protection and haven't had any problems. I have found most of the problems come from malware and I have only ever had ONE problem that malwarebytes couldn't fix.

I will say after I fixed that nightmare.. malwarebytes was the FIRST thing I downloaded again even before virus protection. It has saved me a few times in the past.
