A couple pics

Post by KellyM on Mon May 03, 2010 7:17 pm

Just a couple pics..I will post more when everything is leafed out and flowers are all open.

This is a pic of the flowering crab tree on my front lawn.. Its budded and just getting ready to flower..I took it from inside out through the big picture window..dont' mind the glare of the glass on some of these photos..

Thr front walk and one of the front flower beds (again view taken from inside out the front picture window)

The back deck

The back deck and back lawn..our lawn runs all the way up to the brown dirt area way out back

I could get better pics from outside, and I will in about another week when everything is all flowered and green.

Re: A couple pics

Post by KellyM on Mon May 03, 2010 8:34 pm

We've had an unusually warm spring this year..normally this time of year stuff would be mostly brown and just barely starting to turn green. Actually we should have mowed this weekend, but Lowes didn't deliver our riding mower until late Sunday afternoon. Kris will have to wait until the weekend to mow, since the grass will be super long by then, we will have to clean the grass up after.

I have to admit, I wasn't very keen on the idea of moving in town at first, but it took just the right place and all the right things to come together for me to love it. I am a 5 minute walk from downtown, but the street I live on is super quiet. It's mostly retired people that live on our street and one or two families with kids that are highschool age so it's very quiet. I have met a few neighbors and all of them very nice. You wouldn't know we were right in town when you are in the back yard. You can still hear and see the birds because of the trees in the back yard and neighboring yards. At night you have the streetlight (which isn't too bright) out front, but in the back yard it's dark enough to see the stars.

All of you were right when you were talking about being choosy when looking at homes. I'm glad I took your advice and didn't get that Washington Street house. We did have to go up significantly in price, but I can definitely see myself living here the rest of my life.

Mulch it, don't clean it, better for the grass and tons easier.
Flowerbeds look good!

Your trees are leafing out really good. We still mostly have buds or a green hazy look to the trees. Your neighborhood looks great, and the flowerbeds, too. Half of me wants to live in town and the other half likes the quiet out here just fine.

Front left flower bed (this one I have cleaned up)

Front right flower bed (this one I started cleaning up, but haven't finished, there were 2 years of leaves, dead flowers and debris)

I have never had tulips before and feel kind of silly...I didn't know they opened up in the sun! D'oh!

Erin, if you or anyone can identify this plant, please tell me what it is..

You can't kill it, lol. It will spread... it can be divided up really well. It will stay green all summer and eventually have tall pretty flowers too. I love Hosta I have so many varieties of it but but I like the plain green like your the best.
