Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen.
I loved this book too, though some parts were hard too read because I would get so emotional.

I recommend anything by Philippa Gregory
I absolutely adore her.
I've read all of these:

Wideacre trilogy
Wideacre (1987)
The Favored Child (1989)
Meridon (1990)

The Tudor series
The Other Boleyn Girl (2001)
The Queen's Fool (2003)
The Virgin's Lover (2004)
The Constant Princess (2005)
The Boleyn Inheritance (2006)
The Other Queen (2008)

Her book "The Other Boleyn Girl" has been recently made into a movie.

Put "Water for Elephants" on your "NEXT" pile. It's a quick read and I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

It is a book I would have never picked up by the cover, nor the description, it's just one of those you gotta take our word for it, and read.

I have five ARCs that arrived while I was at my daughters wedding reception...
those are next...I have to review them. I have a review to write for ah holistic dog care handbook...it was written by a friend and he asked...it will be out in June! I have had "Elephants " in my hand once or twice or more and put it back down...I will read it over summer, I am pretty sure...

I've been trying to get into that program .........so far with no success.
I'm a voracious reader which can turn into a very expensive habit.
My husband calls Books-A-Million my "crack house".

I can identify with reading two or three books a week!

Right now I'm reading Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson & David Oliver Relin (it's ok - on a 1-10 scale I'd give it a 6)

I've been reading it for about two weeks. I've read two or three other books since I started it. It's just not a "page turner".

Just got done w/ Mary Higgens Clark's new book (sorry, can't think of the name). . I LOVE all her books. Also, if you hadn't read a previous post from me, I'm totally into the Twilight series, which is being made into a movie and showing this coming December!!

I just got that one too ( my first!) I'm about 1/2 way through and I'm really enjpying it! It's not normally the type of book I would read. If I saw it in a bookstore I would have walked right on by. I've been pleasantly surprised.

I would have walked by it as well... I usually try to stay away from books that will be upsetting rather than interesting or relaxing.

I finished "Songs" on friday .. the whole discussion thing over there looks huge and intimidating. I am not sure if I wil be joining in or not.

Yesterday I read The Land of Osiris by Stephen Mehler .. good read. I was led to that book by reading his wifes novel, Under The Stone Paw by Theresa Crater. I am about to start Ruby: a Novel by Mary Summer Rain. I am a very eclectic reader, as you can see.

I love this thread!!
Recent favorites include 'The Time Travellers Wife' and 'The kite Runner'.
I was sad when both books ended and wondered how to follow them up.

An all time favorite is 'The mists of Avalon' which is the Arthurian Legend retold by the women in the story.

And shamefully I have recently finished the 'Twilight' trilogy and am anxiously awaiting the next book in August.

I saw the Time Traveler's Wife at the thrift store, but didn't buy it. Now I want to go back tomorrow to see if it's still there! Is it very good?

Don't be embarrassed you read the Twilight series. Ha ha! There's a HUGE message board for Twilight fans who are moms and are over the age of 25... *snort* So, there's a HUGE gathering for this series. Cool

The Time Travellers wife is a compelling beautiful book. I bought it for both my sisters as soon as I finished just so that I could chat with them lol.It is one of those books that you cannot stop thinking about and that makes you want to talk to someone about it as soon as you finish it.

I have also read 'The Glass Castle' this year, i don't usually read memoirs but this one blew me away. Its a story of an extremely disfunctional family but it is told with such charm and grace - incredible!
