A beautiful day

Post by thebigscott on Wed Mar 31, 2010 4:12 pm

It's so nice out today. I just came inside after sweeping off the porch and doing a tiny bit of yard work. Caly's on spring break and she's sitting outside reading a book while Zoe and Quinn play in the sandbox. During the winter a small group of ants moved into it and Zoe and the ants are battling for control. Every nice day she runs a toy rake through their hill. Every rainy day they rebuild. I think she'll win though. The weather is getting nicer and nicer. I'm hoping they'll take the hint and move to undisputed lands. I hate to see them do all that work and it get destroyed. They aren't the biting kind so I don't have a problem with them being in the box. And any chemicals I'd use to get rid of them would be worse than the ants themselves.

So has spring hit your neck of the woods yet?

It's 68 degrees here today! Just gorgeous. I did some yard work, too, and read outside for a while.

In the low-mid 70's here, but the wind is blowing pretty hard. I cannot wait till it is in the 80's!

grits or cornmeal will get rid of the ants, and not hurt the kids.

It's nice and sunny here too. The boys and I were outside playing for a bit after they got home from school. Unfortunately I was at the dentist earlier today and don't feel like being outside for too long.

spring hit here and was typical gorgeous San Diego weather(sunny high 70s to low 80's) for about 2 weeks...disappeared overnight and looks like overcast and 60's for the next week or so.
was super excited to get some color to my skin and wear shorts...very disappointed that I am back in jeans.

Really? I would have thought it would bring more ants, not get rid of the ones already there. But right now I'm not too worried. Zoe isn't killing them, they aren't biting here. It's just a turf battle.

They eat it and swell up and bust.

I did some gardening, well cultivating actually. Have to plant friday, so gotta get it ready. I am enjoying this warm weather though, especially after the COLD WET winter we had.

It was okay today still wet from the last few days though... tomorrow and Saturday are suppose to be really nice, 80 on Saturday which is where I draw the line and it becomes too hot, lol. I have some early veggies to get in the ground as soon as I can and a whole lot more to get started in the house. Spring Break is still a couple weeks away around here.
